Text from before the machines started writing.

Steel made before nuclear tests is prized for sensitive instruments. Text written before ChatGPT is the same for AI. Lowsteel finds old forums and blogs, proves their dates and brokers licences.

How it works

Finds human-written text from before 2023, proves its date and licenses it to AI labs.

Since 2023, even expert writing online is mixed with AI text. Lowsteel finds dormant forums, blogs and archives written before ChatGPT, verifies their dates, cleans and deduplicates them, and brokers licences between the archive owners and AI labs. Every licence is a signed contract after legal review.

  1. Step 01

    Finds archives written before 2023

Agents search archive.org for dormant forums and blogs full of human writing, and track down who owns them today.

  2. Step 02

Proves the dates and cleans the text

Every source is date-verified, deduplicated and cleaned, so a pack holds only writing from before the chatbots.

  3. Step 03

Brokers a licence with an AI lab

The owner signs a licensing contract after legal review, and the dated, packaged corpus goes to the labs and dataset buyers who license it.

First up: We start by reaching out to the owners of dormant forums we find through archive.org.

Why now

The world just changed.

What changed, and where it was reported.

  1. A study found a significantly higher share of AI-generated responses in crowdsourced surveys after 2022 than before.

    arXiv
  2. Pangram estimated that 21% of ICLR 2026 peer reviews were fully AI-generated: even expert text written after 2023 is mixed.

Questions

Straight answers.

Tell us about an archive
Who owns the posts on an old forum?

Often many people: each user may hold the copyright in their own posts. That is why every pack goes through legal review before a licence is signed.

Why does the date matter so much?

Text written after 2023 is mixed with AI writing, even in expert venues. A verified date is what makes old human text worth licensing, so the date evidence travels with every pack.

How long does a licence take?

Sales to AI labs are relationship-led and can take a long time. We tell archive owners that from the first conversation.
